Sustainability
Sustainability in today’s environmentally conscious world is a multifaceted issue that involves balancing economic viability with environmental responsibility and social ethics. For CPX, this discussion revolves around several key areas: materials and resources, production processes, waste management, energy usage, and corporate social responsibility.
- Managing Materials: We endeavour to source paper from responsibly managed forests certified by organisations like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). These certifications ensure that the paper is produced from trees harvested in a way that conserves biodiversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers.
Vegetable-based inks, eco-friendly inks that not only reduce the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), but also facilitate easier recycling of paper.
- Reducing Waste: Digital printing allows for shorter runs, which reduces waste, and it doesn’t require the same amount of chemicals and plates. Printing only what is required, when it is required, reduces obsolescence and waste.
CPX has implemented an effective waste management strategy, which includes recycling scraps and misprinted materials, properly disposing of hazardous substances, and perhaps most importantly, implementing a policy to minimise waste production in the first place.
- Renewable Energy: Energy consumption is a critical factor for our manufacturing business. CPX have invested significantly into solar power to run our operations. Energy-efficient equipment and practices, such as LED lighting and programmable thermostats, further reduce our carbon footprint.
Finally, sustainability extends beyond environmental concerns. Ethical labor practices, community engagement, and transparent business practices are vital. CPX are a responsible corporate citizen and participate in many community events.
